FAQs
What is Helium?
Helium gas is a colorless, odourless, tasteless, non-toxic, inert, monatomic gas. It is a gas less dense than air which causes a balloon to float.
Is Helium safe?
Neutral helium at standard conditions is non-toxic, plays no biological role and is found in trace amounts in human blood. However inhaling helium can be dangerous if done to excess, since helium is a simple asphyxiate and so displaces oxygen needed for normal respiration.
How long will the balloons float for?
Our balloons are designed to provide long-lasting enjoyment, but float times can vary depending on balloon type, size, and environmental conditions. In general, helium-filled latex balloons float for a shorter period due to the natural permeability of the material, while foil balloons tend to stay inflated much longer because they retain helium more effectively. Factors such as temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight can also influence how long your balloons will stay afloat. For best results, keep balloons indoors and away from sharp objects or extreme conditions. With proper care, you can enjoy vibrant, floating décor for your celebration.
- 11” Sempertex balloons will float for approximately 10-12 hours*.
- 18” Sempertex balloons will float for approximately 24-30 hours*.
- 18” to 42” Microfoil balloons will float for approximately 3-4 days.
- 15” to 24” Bubble balloons will float for approximately 2 weeks.
*if you’d like to extend the float time for your latex balloons please ask us about the Ultra HiFloat Gel
What is Ultra HiFloat Gel?
Ultra HiFloat Gel is a non toxic biodegradable liquid that forms a barrier in latex balloons to make them float on 25x times longer on average. Meaning it slows down the rate of escape of helium from the porous latex balloon.
What happens to helium balloons in the heat and in the cold?
When foil and latex balloons are filled with helium, the balloon will expand and contract with the temperatures. Hot temperatures will cause balloons to expand and occasionally pop. Cold temperatures will cause balloons to shrink. Altitude will also affect balloon float time. For best results and long lasting good looks protect inflated balloons from extreme temperatures, high wind and other weather related elements.

Warnings!
Prior to using any helium product, please familiarize yourself with the following warnings.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Balloons represent a possible choking hazard. Adult supervision is required. Keep uninflated balloons away from children. Discard broken balloons immediately.
Do not place nozzle in mouth or nose for any reason. Doing so can damage lungs and other body parts, which can result in serious personal injury or death. Helium cylinders contain compressed helium under pressure.
Do not inhale helium. Use helium only in a well ventilated area. Helium displaces and can eliminate oxygen available for breathing. Inhaling helium can result in serious personal injury or even death.
Never expose helium cylinders to direct heat, fire or mistreatment. Exposure to such conditions may result in the rupture of the cylinder, resulting in serious personal injury or death.
